Some Stuff About Me ......

I live in Harrogate, North Yorkshire with my wonderful wife and soul-mate Helen. I have two incredible sons - Evan and Matthew - who are occasionally show up at home, usually when they're hungry or need money. The three of them are the best thing that ever happened to me and I love them all. I spent over 24 years in the Royal Navy, but since I packed it all in and got a proper job my life has gone from strength to strength and I've never looked back. I am a die-hard soul music fan, but my heart truly belongs in the fells of Northern England, it's what I was made for. Please read about my adventures and experiences ....

Round Hill Fell Race & Baggy Heads

Woke up feeling a bit tired and under the weather today, however turned out for what was my first crack at our local fell race ... God knows why I haven't done this before, I'm frequently running up and around this area so will have to put this down to my own foolishness in missing it. Didn't have that good a race, truth be told, went off a bit fast and paid for it. Had little fight in me for a hard run to the end, although there is a fast finish to be had. This race has a good, steady climb but is actually more akin to a trail race, have to say it is very boggy in places. Here's what Mr Garmin has to say about the whole thing:

None of it, Martin! That's a great time for that distance and elevation and the course looks great. IF I can ever shift this injury, I'd love to do that kind of race. I love tracks and hills but, as you know, the navigation demon holds me back. Is this one simple to navigate for numpties??
